William Shakespeare (via alltherestarejustdetails) (via saynotocosmo)
This is Mariana speaking in ‘Measure for Measure’ act 5, scene 1 lines 440-2. She is begging Isabella to help her plead for Angelo’s life, despite the wrong he has done her. Isabella agrees.
I always get suspicious when I see context-less Shakespeare quotes around as when they are a character’s lines, they will often reflect how the character was written, not Shakespeare himself. It’s useful therefore to know the play, character and situation.
It is a beautiful quote though.
